Your download is starting
Seven steps, a few minutes.
DevBrain is a small app for Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or later) for now; other platforms aren't built yet. Once it is running and linked to a repo, every coding session on the team sees the same picture.
- 01
Open the DMG
It is in your Downloads folder, named DevBrain.dmg. Safari asks once whether to allow downloads from getdevbrain.com. Allow it. If the download still did not start, use the button below.
- 02
Drag DevBrain into Applications
Then eject the DMG. You can delete it afterwards.
- 03
Open DevBrain from Applications
It lives in the menu bar and has no Dock icon. The panel opens from the bottom corner of the screen when your mouse reaches it.
- 04
Sign in with GitHub
The panel opens a browser tab for sign-in and hands you straight back to the app. Signing in does not give DevBrain access to any code.
- 05
Create your team, or join one
Create a team, or open the invite link a teammate sent you and join theirs.
- 06
Add DevBrain to a repository on GitHub
Pick one repo to start with and install DevBrain's GitHub App on it. That needs admin rights on the repo; without them, DevBrain gives you a link to send to someone who has them. If your team already has a repo linked, skip this.
- 07
Set up this Mac
Click Set up this Mac. It installs the plugin your coding agents use. If you added the repo, choose its rules too. The next time anyone on the team who has DevBrain installed opens a session there, it will know who else is around.
If the install goes wrong
- Not supported on this Mac
- DevBrain needs an Apple Silicon Mac, M1 or later, on macOS 12 or later.
- The DMG did not download
- Safari asks once to allow downloads from getdevbrain.com. Allow it, then use Download again below.
- The app is not in the menu bar
- DevBrain has no Dock icon. Move the mouse to the bottom corner of the screen and click the brain, or press Alt+Space.
- Start over
- Paste this in Terminal to reinstall. It keeps your sign-in.
